75% of Shoppers Are Buying Into This Major Sneaker Trend
6:33:00 PMHow many times have you put on a pair of leggings and running shoes with no intention of actually working out? Guilty as charged. As it turns out, we're not the only ones. Forbes reported on fascinating findings about how people are really using their sneakers.
The data comes from The NPD Group’s Consumer Tracking Service, which asks consumers questions about products they've bought. "When asked about their primary intended purpose for athletic shoes purchased, about 25% of all U.S. consumers said they would use the shoes for athletics and sports," Forbes reports. "So, in effect, about 75% of athletic shoes purchased in the U.S. are not used for their intended purpose."
This shouldn't be too surprising considering that the athleisure trend is still going strong, but it's still a pretty significant percentage. The moral of the story? Slip on your Nike Flyknits with confidence—even if there's no gym in sight.
