Breaking: Dior Will Appoint Its First-Ever Female Creative Director
10:42:00 AMIt seems as though Dior has finally found its new creative director after Raf Simons departed the brand back in October.
According to Business of Fashion, the house will be appointing Italian designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, who currently serves as the co-creative director at Valentino alongside Pierpaolo Piccioli. Although Dior has not made any official comments, BoF reports that the house is set to announce the news after its couture show in July. Additionally, WWD reports that Chiuri's first collection will be S/S 17, which will be presented this fall.
The appointment also happens to be quite historic: If the news is confirmed, Chiuri will become the first female creative director in the company's history. Watch this space for updates as we learn more.
