In the latest episode of the Vogue podcast, Anna Wintour weighed in on Gigi Hadid's very first cover for the magazine. Wintour explained how Hadid has had an important impact on the industry and has opened up discussions about body positivity. "She has a wonderful sense of freedom and loving her body," Wintour said of Hadid on the podcast. 

"I think really because of the enormous growth in social media, we have to recognize that there are different body types," Wintour said. "Gigi has been very outspoken about that, because as you know, she has been somewhat criticized—I think completely wrongly—on social media, and she addresses that. She's proud of her body, as she well should be."

You might remember that Hadid posted on open letter on her Instagram account back in September addressing the body shaming that she's experienced. She urged people not to resort to criticizing others: "I hope everyone gets to a place where they'd rather talk about the things that inspire them over the things that bring others down," she wrote at the time.
