This Brooklynite Has the Makings of Fashion's Latest Muse

What do you get when you mix a folk-singing Brooklynite exuding cooler-than-cool insouciance with a luxury label reviving itself with a new wave of amplified aesthetics? Some beautiful synergy (and subsequential murmurs about the makings of a new muse).

As reported by Vogue.com, under-the-radar folk singer Kelsey Lu just made a splash at Gucci's Spring 2017 show in Milan. Sporting a '70s-inspired fire truck red suit from the house's Pre-Fall 2016 collection, matching red lip, and fanciful pussy-bow blouse, the singer was the walking exemplar of Gucci's new dress code.

Since creative director Alessandro Michele took the helm of the Florentine fashion house in January 2015, he's remapped the brand's DNA, giving life to collections that are a fantastical patchwork everybody wants a piece of. Turning up the dial on volume, adornment, and color, his new set of Gucci girls are very much the "enigmatic muses who happen to wear his whimsical and romantic clothing with total aplomb," as Vogue.com describes.

A possible muse in the making, Lu told Vogue.com via email that her first Gucci appearance was "very dreamy." "I didn't have too many expectations seeing as this was my first time," the singer noted, "but being sat opposite Serena Williams was a warming surprise."

The rising ingénue also made an appearance at Molly Goddard's show in London last weekend. Lu told Vogue.com she's already made a mental lineup of all the pieces she's pining over from Gucci and Goddard's collections. "There are too many things to list. Overall, it was jaw-dropping."

What pieces from Gucci's new collection would you love to wear? List them in the comments.
