When it comes to wintertime dressing, having to bundle up in full-length pants all the time gets old pretty quickly. But on the days that allow for it, tights are our favorite alternative. When styled the right way, hosiery will complement your look and allow you to rock that shorter hemline.

We're taking our cue from Jennifer Lawrence, who recently wore black tights that proved just that. The actress wore a very on-trend shearling-trim Burberry coat paired with a pinstriped miniskirt, aforementioned black tights, and Nicholas Kirkwood pumps. Now, there are a couple things here that make the look so alluring. The way the skirt barely peeks out from under the coat combined with the fact that she opted for sheer tights over opaque elongates her legs. You can bet we're copying this flattering winter ensemble ASAP.
