Anna Wintour on NYFW Trends and What She Considers the Best Revenge
12:06:00 PMWhen it comes to assessing the fashion week runways, no word is law quite like Anna Wintour's. At the close of New York Fashion Week, Vogue's Editor in Chief summed up the 180 shows in a short video on Vogue.com, sharing her highlights as well as some of the biggest takeaways from the season.
In addition to calling out trends such as Americana in quilting and denim and the return of the pantsuit with tailoring, tweeds and checks, Wintour vocalized the larger encompassing trends of optimism, diversity, and inclusion. "I think the strongest message was looking at the American woman in a very universal way and looking at fashion in a very inclusive way," she said. "It was really a celebration of women from all walks of life and from all backgrounds." Furthermore, she noted the sense of positivity expressed through the collections. "I also thought it was an optimistic week and a joyful week," Wintour reflected. "I do think when things are tough, being positive is the best revenge."
