One of the Prettiest Oscars After-Party Dresses Was By H&M
8:03:00 AMWhile most of the stars walking the red carpet at last night's Vanity Fair Oscar Party would designer or even couture gowns, Rooney Mara decided to go a different route, opting to wear fast fashion. But not just any fast fashion. Her off-white ruffled gown was a design from H&M's sustainable Conscious Collection. Sustainable fashion has been in the news more than ever as of late (i.e. Emma Watson's new Instagram account dedicated solely to the sustainable pieces she wears), making this a very timely choice.
While the price of Mara's georgette gown is unknown (it's set for release on April 20), H&M current roster of Conscious Collection pieces tops out at just $80—proof of the probable affordability of Mara's expensive-looking gown. (Perhaps she was inspired by Natalie Portman's recent decision to wear a $65 Topshop dress on the red carpet?) And even better, Mara's gown features two of spring's biggest trends—romantic ruffles and white tones. The delicately pretty gown paired with high platform sandals, for a touch of edge, is definitely chic enough to land her on our Oscars after-party best-dressed list.
