Inspiring style and the Hadid name already go hand in hand. In fact, there’s hardly a day that passes when the family isn’t catching our attention due to a great outfit shot, a chic campaign, or a special collaboration. But two of the sisters are now sharing their POV with a collection that’s all about their signature accessory—and nope, it’s neither Gigi nor Bella.

Alana and Marielle Hadid launched a namesake line of eyewear this month, and the designs are not your basic black sunnies. “For Hadid Eyewear, my father [Mohamed], Marielle, and I were inspired by our family’s personal style,” Alana told us over email, “which enabled us to design an eclectic line for everyone that infuses fashion and functionality.”

Initial pieces from Hadid Eyewear are daring. They feature tinted lenses, dramatic shapes, and retro-inspired details. “I wanted a collection to represent diversity, comfort, style and appeal to an array of personalities,” says Alana, and from her perspective, we can understand why. After all, when you’re part of a family with multiple fashion stars in their own right, it’s unsurprising to see it reflected in your work.

While the first launch includes six different silhouettes, Alana says there’s more to come soon: “Unlike most collections, new styles will drop when the frame is a fit. Therefore, you won’t see new frames on a seasonal basis, but likely a new pair of sunglasses as soon as March, inspired by my father.”
