Rihanna Just Earned Another Huge Fashion Honor

12:50:00 PM

At this point, Rihanna winning an award—be it for her contribution to music, fashion, or the greater world—might not qualify as news. And yet, come May, the singer/designer/humanitarian will make headlines again when she's honored by one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the country.

As announced by Parsons School of Design, the 29-year-old will be recognized for her ability to "empower young women on a global scale through her unwavering commitment to self-expression and leadership," according to a press release. And since Rihanna is far from a one-trick pony, her work across the artistic industries will be honored, as well as her commitment to the Clara Lionel Foundation, an organization she created in honor of her grandparents that helps provide education globally to those in need.

"It's such a thrill to know that a design school as prestigious as Parsons School of Design would present me with this honor," Rihanna says in the official press release. "I consistently find creative and exciting designs coming from Parsons alumni, so I feel a deep connection to the school. But, I am especially grateful that Parsons would recognize me for the work I've done in regards to philanthropy."

On May 22, Rihanna will receive her latest accolade, and she will join the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Donna Karan, who are all past recipients. Plus, she'll debut an incredible red carpet look. At least, we can safely assume as much.
