This Once Tacky Jewelry Trend Is Back in Style
9:24:00 PMJewelry trends are funny things and, in my opinion, almost fickler and more confusing than clothing trends. It seems like one day, everyone is wearing barely there strands of delicate gold or pavé, and the next, we are hit with something much bigger. Well, the day to adopt something a little more daring is here as costume-inspired jewelry is officially one of spring’s hottest trendsas far as accessories go. Major designers such as Lanvin, J.W.Anderson, Gucci, and Marni sent gems, jewels, and metals down the S/S 17 runways that hardly skimped on the dramatics.
Specifically, oversize clustered crystals, colored stones, and chunky metals are the key pieces to look for if you want to buy into this trend. And to clarify, when we say “costume jewelry,” we in no way mean cheap- or tasteless-looking pieces—we simply are referring to the level of glamour that most of us probably aren’t used to wearing in our everyday lives. As we temporarily transition away from delicate jewelry as a major trend, it’s time to embrace the outrageous pieces we once thought were too gaudy or tacky to wear on a regular basis. This spring, the more the merrier when it comes to the glitz and glam of your jewelry choices. (Sidenote: Raiding your grandmother’s jewelry drawer wouldn’t be a bad idea.)
Go on to see this trend in action on some of your favorite street style stars and then to shop costume-inspired jewelry pieces for yourself.
