WWW: In your experience, what are the trends that truly stand the test of time? Can you give us five of them?

LF: Black. So New York, so timeless, and potentially so chic. Great black heels. Interesting black dresses. Black tops, and turtlenecks, and tees. Millions of black pants. I probably have at least 100 pairs … boot cut, crop, flared, high-waisted, low-waisted, skinny … denim and all its reincarnations are forever.

I think Bohemian is a staple by now. It’s inspired by getaways to exotic places, but it feels great when worn in an urban context, too. Ethnic influences and techniques are universally appreciated and admired. This trend is a keeper.

Classics with a fresh twist are forever. The camel coat. The perfect black men’s topper coat. The best poplin shirts. The perfect easy summer leather slide. The most elegant and classic crocodile clutch bag.

Lastly, I don’t think glamour ever goes out of style.

WWW: And finally, what’s your personal process for editing your closet? Any advice for anyone who’s currently curating their own style POV?

LF: I would recommend dressing to please your eye first. Don’t get stuck in a style rut, but also don’t be afraid of repeating yourself. Ask yourself if you really love it, or is it just a “like”—if so chances are you can let it go unless it’s a workhorse staple. For me, I dress a bit like I live … one part planning to two parts serendipity and impulse.
