Kim Kardashian's New Watch Was Once Owned By This First Lady

What do Kim Kardashian West and Jackie Kennedy Onassis have in common? Their life in the spotlight (and Kanye West's proclamations of one day running for president) aside, they now have both owned the same iconic timepiece. This past Wednesday, Kardashian's new makeup line KKW Beauty launched and sold out within hours, bringing in an estimated $14.4 million. That same morning, a Cartier Tank watch owned by Jackie O sold at over three times its high-auction estimate of $120,000 for a cool $379,500 to an anonymous bidder. We found out yesterday that the lucky bidder was none other than Kardashian.
The former first lady received the 18-karat gold timepiece as a gift from her brother-in-law Prince Stanislaw "Stas" Radziwill in 1963, complete with a personalized engraving on the caseback. There is already talk of how the bold purchase might speak to Kardashian West ambitions of echoing the Kennedys' Camelot. What is for certain is Kardashian has acquired a truly timeless piece of fashion history.
