The '90s Shorts Trend You'll Want to Try This Weekend

10:38:00 PM

Odds are your shorts collection consists largely of denim cutoffs. And we don't blame you—they're a cinch to wear, available at just about every price point, and virtually synonymous with summer. But printed shorts can (and should!) liven up your wardrobe this season, and they're easier to style than you'd think.

Floral shorts—a '90s staple beloved by Clarissa Darling and Kelly Kapowski alike—are back again, both in botanical brights and dainty, Liberty-esque prints. Like the styles decked out in palm fronds and leopard sports, they're practically an outfit on their own, so just throw on a cropped white tee or linen button-down and you're ready to go. If you really want to embrace the nostalgia factor, look no further than Esprit's throwback collection for Opening Ceremony, in which paisley- and floral-print hotpants abound.

Style skew a little more classic? Gingham, stripes, and checks are approachable entrées to the trend and can be easily mixed and matched, à la the Olivia Palermo look you see above.

Scroll on to shop printed shorts for every style this summer.
