After a wet week in New York promptly followed by a red-eye with a short connecting flight (that I nearly missed, having forgotten my passport on the seat of the airplane), we landed in Saint-Raphaël weatherworn and having endured every travel mishap along the way. Lucky for us, it only went up from there.

We checked into Hôtel Les Roches Rouge in the Côte d'Azur, a flawlessly designed hotel on the Mediterranean sea that exudes the laissez-faire attitude of the Riviera with attention to detail and service. The picture-perfect seaside resort is a relaxing respite from the scene at Cannes and Monaco, complete with a seawater pool, pétanque, and a five-star spa. The best part is the très chic beach basket and Turkish blankets stowed in the room are yours to keep for a small fee.
