Dior Just Made This 'Boring' Color Exciting Again

5:09:00 PM

Gray may usually be synonymous with lousy weather and gloomy city sidewalks—neither of which you want to see on a long weekend in July—but at Dior, the color has very different connotations. The house's Avenue Montaigne salon is famously painted a dove gray (Benjamin Moore even has a shade named after the brand), and at today's haute couture show in Paris, designer Maria Grazia Chiuri paid tribute to the color's more luxurious associations.

Tailored tweed skirt suits, diaphanous chiffon dresses, and sheer gowns with lace and fringed macramé were all rendered in various shades of the dusky neutral. The lighter pieces are sure to be a hit amongst the stars that sat in the front row—among them Elizabeth Olsen, Kirsten Dunst, and a newly-platinum Karlie Kloss—while the sharp tailoring and sturdy outerwear will provide more practical investment pieces for the house's regular clientele.

Scroll on to see some of the Dior looks that have us rethinking our position on gray for next season.
