One of the Most Iconic Stores in Paris Is Closing Its Doors for Good
8:07:00 AMFor the truest fashion fans, there are some shopping destinations that constantly show up on their bucket lists: for starters, 10 Corso Como in Milan, Dover Street Market in Tokyo, and definitely Colette in Paris. But if you haven’t been to the latter yet, it’s time to book a ticket to Paris ASAP, as the iconic store has just announced it's closing its door for good.
Posted on the Colette Instagram account, the store will be shuttering operations come December 20 this year. “Colette Roussaux [the store’s founder] has reached the time when she would like to take her time; and colette cannot exist without Colette,” the post read. And as promised, the store who’s behind so many exciting fashion collaborations—including everyone from Balenciaga to McDonalds—won’t be resting on its laurels between now and the end of the year. “Until our last day, nothing will change. colette will continue to renew itself each week with exclusive collaborations and offerings, also available on our website colette.fr.” We'll take that as a hint that there's a lot more amazing work to be debuted.
While this is certainly a disappointment—especially for those who've never visited the Rue Saint-Honoré shop—consider this yet another reason to set an airfare alert for affordable Paris flights. And if you don't make it there this year, there's still reason to visit as "negotiations are under way with Saint Laurent" to take over the now-iconic space.
