The New Version of The Naked Dress Is So Elegant

6:28:00 AM

The naked dress—in its many, varying iterations—has been pretty ubiquitous lately. And while the trend of faking nudity isn’t quite going away within the next several months, at Jason Wu’s runway show yesterday during New York Fashion Week, we noticed a new and very elegant way to get the look.

Closing the show was a collection a flowing dresses, all with sheer bodices that were made a bit more modest with pretty, draped patterns across the chest. The skirts were long and pleated, giving then lots of beautiful moment while peeking at the legs beneath. Plus, depending on your preference, the styles came in blush tones, classic black, and floral patterns, allowing for a different see-through effect for each version.

As Wu is quite notorious for creating elegant, red-carpet-worthy gowns, it’s easy to imagine these pretty pieces on any starlet come red carpet season next year. Especially one who appreciates the daring, fully dressed yet barely there aesthetic.

Take a look at a few of the examples below, as well as the complete Spring/Summer 2018 collection.
