Why This Hollywood Icon Calls Aging "a Privilege"

9:23:00 AM

A new month means a new cover star. And just this morning, InStyle revealed their October “Beauty Issue,” featuring the ageless and always-stunning Julianne Moore. In the cover story, the actress reveals what she's been up to this past year (it's a lot!) and opens up about her views on aging.

At 56-years-old, Julianne is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, her incredible momentum is most evident in her most recent endeavor. Just last year, she filmed three new movies between the spring and fall, including Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Wonderstruck, and Suburbicon. But unlike a typical film where a star is cast to play a single character, Julianne played a total of five different roles: two in Wonderstruck, and a set of twins in Suburbicon.

Julianne's ambitious nature has ensured her success as an actress, though there are still times when she looks back and asks herself how she even got the idea to start acting, she shared with InStyle. But she doesn't let anything get to her, and only seems to get better with age, a topic she has strong opinions about.

“I mean, let’s not talk about this idea of, ‘Oh no! I’m going to be 40!’ You could be dead. So enjoy it. It’s a privilege to age!," she said. "Even in scripts, they’ll refer to a character as ‘aging.’ Well… everyone is aging. In literature and in movies, when people try to stop the process, it always ends in disaster. I think it’s really important to be where you are.”
