From teaming up with French-based label Sézane to creating a limited-edition embroidered bomber jacket with Ft. Lonesome, Madewell has become quite notorious for its highly-coveted (and often limited-edition) collaborations. Now, the brand has tapped cult-favorite NYC label No. 6 on a capsule collection of easy-to-wear, timeless staples (think a vintage-rose print kimono dress or a camisole jumpsuit). And while NYC girls may be slightly more familiar with the No. 6 brand, we guarantee the range of pieces offered will surely appeal to everyone. 

So to get the scoop on the new line before it officially launches in stores and online next week, we spoke with Madewell's head designer Joyce Lee and No. 6 founder Karin Bereson on how such a collection comes to fruition and how it feels to land a collaboration with Madewell.

For Lee, it's about working with brands she loves. "Over the years I’ve kept coming back to [Bereson's] collections because I love the feminine details she incorporates and that her pieces are versatile," she tells Who What Wear. "Her dresses are easy to dress up or down with a change of accessories, making her collection perfect for women that need pieces that will last her throughout a packed day." 

Bereson said she was excited to see some of her brand's old favorites come back to life with this collaboration (the pieces in the capsule feature five different archival No. 6 prints, re-done in eased out modern silhouettes), while also being introduced to a whole new group of shoppers. She added, "Our goal is to have our collection be exciting enough to buy but not so trendy that you can’t wear it over and over again. Timeless."
