The One Trend We're Copying From Julia Roberts's New Cover Shoot

8:04:00 AM

Julia Roberts skyrocketed to fame after her role as Vivian Ward in the '90s classic Pretty Woman. Since then, she has starred in countless films (51 and counting) and has been named People magazine's "World's Most Beautiful Woman" a record of five times. In her newest cover story for InStyle's December issue, Roberts shares some of her tips for looking and feeling great (something she has clearly mastered over the years) and opens up about how she really feels about turning 50.

So how does someone who has lived in the spotlight for over 26 years manage the constant cameras and public attention (the good and the bad?) Well, for one, don't read everything that's written about you. “I do believe that I don’t need to know every weird, mean, untrue, odd [tabloid claim]," Roberts shares with InStyle. And on the odd occasion that she does see a tabloid headline about herself, she makes sure it's known that, well, it's just that—gossip.

Roberts has three keys to joy: “Marry the right person, give birth to a redhead, and have great girlfriends," she says when asked for tips on looking and feeling great—wise advice that has certainly worked for the ageless actress. But how does she really feel about having turned 50? (Her birthday was on October 28.) “There’s nothing different about this birthday than any other one. Really, people? Are we still in that space? Did anyone ever go over this with George Clooney or Brad [Pitt] before their 50th birthdays?" she explains.

Roberts's insightful and inspiring words go along with a series of stunning images (and outfits) shot on a ranch in California. Wearing designs from Dior and Alberta Ferretti, the entire shoot shows her donning Western-inspired pieces—a trend everyone will be wearing come spring. From cowboy boots to turquoise jewelry, Roberts proves that she can pull off any look with aplomb. Now, only one question remains: How can we get our hands on those cowboy boots?
