Flats and skinny jeans are one of those pairings we fall back on over and over again. So it's not too often that we spot a way of wearing them that feels especially fresh. But Karlie Kloss's latest airport ensemble is an old-becomes-new twist. While we can't credit Michael Jackson as Kloss's source of inspiration, her pairing of black loafers and white socks will instantly feel familiar to fans.

While these days, it's less common to wear flats and socks together (sorry, MJ), the combination may just be poised for a comeback. Where basic black skinny jeans and matching shoes don't particularly stand out on their own, the white socks instantly draw the eye downward and create a cool contrast. And let's not forget the added bonus to Kloss's airport look: There will be no risk of walking through security barefoot.
