Given that the Golden Globe Awards immediately follow the holiday season, it's no surprise that there are often a few celebrity engagement ring reveals on the red carpet. And actress Catriona Balfe, star of the cult hit TV series Outlander, is the latest to do just that. The Golden Globe nominee (for Best Performance by an Actress in a  Television Series - Drama) walked the red carpet in a Chanel couture gown, Chanel jewelry, and Jimmy Choo shoes, and divulged to People that the engagement to boyfriend Tony McGill happened over the holiday break.

Balfe's simple, yet breathtaking, ring proves that the colored-stone engagement ring trend is still going strong. Her three-stone ring (the same style as Meghan Markle's new sparkler) features a round white diamond flanked by two sapphires on a simple gold band. It's as elegant and timeless as can be—always a good thing when it comes to engagement rings.
