Thigh-High Uggs Are Now a Thing, And the World Will Never Be the Same
12:23:00 PMParis Fashion Week Men's is in full swing, and today saw the debut of the F/W 18 collection for Y/Project, the gender-fluid streetwear label that helped solidify the exaggeratedly-oversized trend. The collection was in keeping with the brand's signature aesthetic, but it was the footwear that accompanied the clothes that's sure to have the fashion world buzzing long after today's presentation: Uggs.
It's been the norm for designers to collaborate with "ugly" shoe brands in recent seasons (e.g. Christopher Kane and Balenciaga with Crocs and a new Rick Owens collaboration with Birkenstock). And now, Y/Project has joined that growing list, thanks to its collaboration with Ugg. You can't argue with the fact that the #1 reason for wearing Uggs is comfort, and Y/Project capitalized on that to the extreme, with the standout shoe from the collaboration being a pair of baggy thigh-high suede boots that are clearly inspired by the brand's classic short shearling-lined boots.
Styling the thigh-high boots may prove to be a challenge, so we're curios to see who from the fashion crowd will be the first to take on that challenge. Stay tuned, and in the meantime, check out the aforementioned boots, along with other styles that made their runway debut today.
