It's Official: Riccardo Tisci Has Left Givenchy
9:19:00 AMRiccardo Tisci has officially stepped from his creative director position at Givenchy, reports WWD, a role he assumed 12 years ago at the age of 30. His official last day was January 31, and his last collection was men’s F/W 17 and women’s couture fall 2017, which both debuted last month.
While the designer is so often associated with the company he keeps—he’s close friends with the Kardashians/Jenners and was the artist behind Kim’s wedding dress in 2014, he’s designed multiple Met Gala creations for Beyoncé, he’s constantly posting selfies with models (Kate Moss, Lilly Adridge, Cindy Crawford, etc.) and celebs (Madonna, Julia Roberts, etc.) alike, and he boasts nearly two million Instagram followers—it’s his contribution to the fashion world and the iconic French brand that are most celebrated in this moment.
While the designer has neither confirmed his next steps, nor his successors, there are endless opportunities for someone whose name has become synonymous with daring, dark, intricate, and cutting-edge design. The only hint for the future is Tisci’s statement: “I have very special affection for the House of Givenchy and its beautiful teams. I want to thank the LVMH group and Monsieur Bernard Arnault for giving me the platform to express my creativity over the years. I now wish to focus on my personal interests and passions,” he said to WWD.
