We don’t think there are necessarily a lot of rules to follow when it comes to underwear (except maybe wearing what fits and supports), but we’ve always kind of admired women who manage to wear matching, not clashing, sets on a regular basis. It seems organized and curated, even if the pieces you put together are for your eyes only. But don’t get too down on yourself if that’s not your typical approach, because according to one Victoria’s Secret Angel, matching your underwear is highly overrated.

At the launch of VS’s new Dream Angels collection this week, we met with wing women Romee Strijd and Stella Maxwell, and Strijd shattered all our misconceptions when we asked her about her favorite underwear rule to break. “I like to mix and match, actually,” said the 21-year-old and Holland native. “My mom would always say to wear the same bottom and top, and I think that rule’s old school. I think you can mix and match—it’s fun to do."

There you have it. Clash colors, fabrics, and prints confidently when it comes to underwear because matching head-to-toe isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Take it from a professional.
