Bella Hadid Just Wore the It Sneakers From 45 Years Ago
11:57:00 AMBella Hadid wears plenty of straight-off-the-runway pieces, but her latest look features shoes that are anything but new. Snapped in Paris, Hadid wore Nike's Classic Cortez Sneakers ($88), which first debuted way back in 1972. Yep, it's safe to say they still look cool 45 years later.
Nike explains the significance of the Cortez sneaker on its website: "In 1972, it put unprecedented cushioning under the fastest feet in the running world and quickly became the most popular training shoe in the country," the brand states. "It was an unmistakable icon—a walking billboard that told your story and declared your affiliation—and came to thrive with fierce style on the streets of Los Angeles. Since then, no shoe has expanded the definition of a running shoe quite like the Nike Cortez." Given that It girls like Hadid are still wearing them four decades later, we definitely can't argue with that claim.
