In case you hadn't noticed, Nicole Kidman has been owning the Cannes Film Festival red carpet with a slew of ethereal looks, including a glittery Rodarte number and a regal Christian Dior Couture frock. But just when you thought you had her red carpet style all figured out, she threw everyone for a loop with one accessory.

As Refinery29 pointed out, Kidman's grommet belt is a mid-2000s throwback. (Raise your hand if you wore one in high school.) We love how she juxtaposed the edgy accent with a softer-feeling frilly dress, which created an undeniably cool combo. Excuse us while we raid our parents' house to see if our grommet belts are still hiding somewhere.
