Princess Diana Is Inspiring Which Designer's New Collection?

4:24:00 PM

The 20-year anniversary of Princess Diana’s untimely death has had everyone reminiscing about her life and has had our editors finding major inspiration from her style. She immediately became a fashion icon in the ’90s and her timeless looks have proven that she’s still one today—a fact that Virgil Abloh can attest to.

This morning, the Off-White designer posted a picture of the inspiration board for his next collection. The Instagram caption read: “one woman, 40 @off___white looks in the works come September.” The “one woman” taking over Abloh’s mood board? Princess Diana, of course. The photos of her are divided into sections with titles that read “Mom,” “Countryside Girl,” “Charity,” “Being a Princess,” and more.

Abloh has collaborated with brands like Levi’s, Nike, IKEA, and Warby Parker, designing bold, fashion-forward products. His aesthetic doesn’t necessarily bring royalty like Kate Middleton or Queen Letizia of Spain to mind, so it’s hard to say if Princess Diana would have rocked any Off-White apparel today.

While Abloh and the late princess seem like an unlikely duo, who could blame him for choosing her as his muse? We would too. And we’ll be eagerly waiting to see how he incorporates the royal icon into his Spring 2018 collection. Scroll down to see Abloh’s Instagram post.
