This Brand Made Amazing Basics by Avoiding One Mistake

We're pretty picky when it comes to basics. And can you really blame us? Staple pieces like great tees and tanks are the kinds of items we wear all the time—with everything. They have to be top-notch. So when Lacausa launched its new Uniform collection, available to shop today, we had to ask: What are we getting wrong when we shop for the building blocks of our closet?

"One of the things we've stayed away from in Uniform is making something that's too thin and drapey," says Rebecca Grenell, the brand's designer and owner. "The idea of [something super soft] is so appealing at first, but it can often cling to the body in the wrong way, and then we all know it doesn't wash or wear well over time."

The latest collection, however, takes this misstep into consideration for its offerings of tops in classic neutrals and Breton stripes. "The fabric is so important—something that wears well and keeps a crisp look even after many wears and washes," says Grenell of her line's latest arrivals, adding, "It's so important for us to make tees that you can throw in the wash, accidentally dry on high, and it's still your favorite thing to put on in the morning!" That practical approach met with the L.A.-based label's effortless, cool designs makes Uniform's appeal even stronger.
