The #1 Most Flattering Bridal Trend for 2018, From Rachel Zoe
3:49:00 PMWWW: What are your 3 favorite wedding dress trends for 2018 and why?
Rachel Zoe: I love ruffles, but I like a really modern ruffle. I want it to be ethereal and romantic, but not too fluffy and complicated. I really love a bias-cut slip dress—I never get sick of it, I think it’s timeless, sexy, and elegant. I think it’s so flattering on bodies. It could be a fluid sequin, where you can’t even tell it’s sequin, but it has a beautiful shimmer to it and really catches the light. Or, it could be a hammered satin which wears so well and has really good weight to it.
I also love lace dresses and I love a statement sleeve dress. I plan to redo my vows in 2018—I’ll be married for 20 years—so I love a statement sleeve, real romantic moment.
WWW: We've seen a ton of celebrities and models wearing naked wedding dresses. What are your thoughts on the trend?
RZ: I think there’s the approach of 'I should show my body when I can,' and then there’s a part of me that thinks let's keep it for a day that isn't your wedding day. But I think it could be done in a very beautiful and elegant way as well.
WWW: What do you think is the right way to do the naked wedding dress trend?
RZ: I’m someone who is more conservative; I’m someone who prefers subtle sexiness over overt sexiness, so I love an open back versus an open front. I don't personally love cleavage on a wedding day.
